The Zebra brand was established in 1969 in Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA, as a manufacturer of electromechanical products. The company changed its specialisation to marking and ticketing systems in 1982 and became 'Zebra Technologies Corporation'. In 1991, Zebra became a listed company. To this day, Zebra's specialty printers have been manufactured exclusively at its facilities in Vernon Hills and Camarillo, California, and distributed by hubs in Wisconsin, Rhode Island, California and Preston, England. By 2010, Zebra had acquired most of the smaller specialist printer companies. All of the company's plants are ISO 9000 internationally certified.
